My original training in herbal medicine was a four year degree level course with the School of Herbal Medicine, qualifying in 1991. I have been in practice as a professional herbalist since then. I am a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (MNIMH).

In 2008, after more than two years of post graduate study, I obtained a Masters degree (MSc) in herbal medicine, (validated and awarded by the federal University of Wales), with the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine. My chosen subject for the research module of this course was the herbal treatment of raised cholesterol, for which I received a distinction. The course also included modules in advanced therapeutics, energetic herbal medicine and intensive plant study.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse (RGN) in 1978 and worked for two years as a staff nurse in general medicine and coronary care.
My Health Visitor qualification (RHV) followed with several years' experience of working with families and young children.

I am qualified in advanced Therapeutic Massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage having completed the training with the Sandra Day School of Health Studies in Rochdale, now part of Penny Price Aromatherapy. I use these therapies appropriately in my practice.

I also have had training in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, with Anne McIntyre and Sebastian Pole - both internationally known herbalists in this field. The Ayurvedic system coordinates well with western herbal medicine and broadens my practice.

Post graduate training in 2008 in the management of cancer using natural compounds has enhanced my skills in this area.

Not least, my own life experience influences my work in a wholly positive way.
